地元のインディー音楽スポットに救いの手を！

突如世界的なパンデミックが巻き起こり、世界中の多くの人々は現状を受け止めることが困難な状況にあります。いま私にできることは、微力ながらも自分のコミュニティのために何ができるかを考えることです。

Call And Response Records は、東京のライブミュージックシーン、その中の高円寺周辺から生まれました。高円寺は私たちのホームです。日本でコロナウイルス危機の対応が遅れさらに悪化するにつれて、ミュージックバーやライブ会場はますます困難な立場に置かれています。

私は幸運にも家に居ることができ、自分の部屋から執筆作業をすることができます。しかし、東京の独立した小さな音楽スポットのオーナーにとって、補償がないのでこれは簡単なことではありません。彼らは自分たちの生計を立てるために残され、皆にとっては恐ろしくて不安定な状況です。現状は誰もサポートをしないので、彼らの力になりたいです。店を開ければ批判と個人への誹謗中傷に直面し、店を閉めれば生計を立てられなくなり倒産へ追いやられてしまいます。

この危機を乗り越える為に正式な支援を求める運動をして居る方々がいらっしゃるので、今後少なくとも政府はこの問題を認識することを願います。取り急ぎ、できる限り早く、少なくとも Call And Response Records を支援してくれたいくつかの小さな会場・お店を助けたいと思います。

今、世界は混乱しており、おそらくあなた自身も問題を抱えているでしょう。Call And Response は、それを理解しています。しかし、これまで音楽に関わる活動を楽しんできた皆さんのために、私たちのコミュニティが集い、成長させる場所を与えてくれた、私たちの周りの音楽会場や音楽スポットについて考えてみてください。

また、ライブビデオと無料DL音源をこのページに集めて、人々が自由楽しめるようにする予定です。

そしてもし可能なら、少しのお金を支払うことで彼らを助けてください。

Help us support our local independent music spots

Seeing the massive devastation the global pandemic is causing to so many people’s lives around the world is overwhelming and difficult to process. The only way I can get through each day is by thinking small and thinking about what I can do for my own community.

Call And Response Records was born out of the live music scene in Tokyo, and the neighbourhood of Koenji in particular. It’s our home. But as Japan’s experience of the Coronavirus crisis drags on and gets worse, music bars and live venues are increasingly in a difficult position.

I am lucky enough that I can stay at home and do writing work from my room. But without support, that isn’t so easy yet for the owners of small, independent music spots in Tokyo. They have been left to fend for themselves, trying to stop their livelihoods falling apart in a situation that’s scary and uncertain for everyone. They face criticism and personal danger if they open, bankruptcy and the end of their livelihoods if they close.

There are people campaigning for formal support to help the music scene get through the crisis, so at least the government is being made aware of the problem. In the meantime, though, I want to at least help some of the places that have helped Call And Response Records if I can.

The world is in a mess right now, and you probably have your own problems. We at Call And Response understand that. But for those of you who enjoy what we do, just take a moment to think about the venues and music spots around us that have given us a place to gather and grow our community. We plan to upload live videos and free downloads, gathering them all on this page for people to take and enjoy freely. And if you can, please drop a bit of money to help.

With any donations we receive on this page, we’re focusing for now on three small, independent spots that have become important places to the label and the community around us in recent years. We will keep an eye on the situation as it changes and make any of our own changes if they seem appropriate (updates posted here).
